Ternity AI creates the world’s first truly adaptive math tutor using generative knowledge graphs to identify and address student misconceptions better than current AI solutions.
Elevator Pitch
Ternity AI is solving education’s “Two Sigma Problem” – that one-on-one tutoring improves student performance by two standard deviations, moving average students to top 2% performers. Our AI math tutor truly understands student misconceptions through proprietary generative knowledge system,
modeling how concepts connect in students’ minds to identify gaps. We’re launching with a human tutoring co-pilot in Hong Kong, connecting top MIT/Ivy tutors with Asian students while collecting training data. Our Harvard-MIT team has won AI-71 recognition and is positioned to capture a significant share of Asia’s $13.8B math tutoring market by delivering personalized instruction that rivals human tutors at scale.

Revenue Model
Our two-stage model starts with a 25% platform fee from top university tutoring fees ($150-200/hour for international school IB students), creating immediate revenue while collecting training data. We’ll then transition to a $30/hour subscription for our autonomous AI tutor, with additional potential for institutional licensing to schools across Asia.
Startup Journey
Ternity AI was born from a shared passion for educational equity. As Harvard-educated learning scientists, Haihao (CTO) and Kenny (CEO) are deeply passionate about technology’s power to scale effective education, yet heartbroken seeing current AI systems offering mediocre imitations of human teaching rather than truly understanding student thinking.
We’ve validated our generative knowledge approach with 30+ professors, VCs, and educators, winning 2nd place in AI71’s call for proposal – confirming the feasibility of our technological approach. Our combined backgrounds from MIT, Harvard Graduate School of Education, and professional experience across tutoring, research, and business give us unique insight into the technical challenge of modeling student understanding.
Our connections to top international schools provide immediate distribution channels, but we need investment to complete our technology development and launch our human tutoring marketplace while collecting vital training data.
Go-To-Market Plan
We’ll leverage our alumni connections with US top universities, partnerships with YK Pao (Shanghai) and Harrow International (Hong Kong), and Kenny’s network as a teacher trainer who’s helped 50+ Hong Kong educators and launched a math platform that secured $1M+ in government grants. Our combined educational expertise and industry connections provide multiple validated customer acquisition channels.
Potential Exit
Potential acquirers include established EdTech platforms (Chegg, Course Hero) seeking AI differentiation, Asian education giants (New Oriental, TAL Education) expanding their technological capabilities, or EdTech companies like Coursera. Given our proprietary technology and data assets in high-growth personalized learning market, we anticipate a strategic acquisition at $100-300M within 5-7 years.
